Bunker Renovations

Fore Front Construction Company arrived on site today, (the same company that reconstructed the greens).  Fore Front will begin the bunker renovation project with anticipation of completing about 4,000 square feet of bunkers.  The scope of work will include removing all old sand and drainage material out of the bunker, testing existing outfall drainage for proper use, reshaping and contouring bunker faces and floors, adding new drainage to the bunker and refilling with bunker sand approved from earlier bunker renovations. Fore Front will begin working on both right green side bunkers on #18 and proceed to #1 green side bunkers after completion of #18. These 4 bunkers will equal approximately 3,000 – 3,500 square feet and proceed to a fifth and final bunker, like #15 left green side, to fulfill the 4,000 square feet of the bunker renovation. Once each bunker is completed we will have an exact square footage total and can proceed from there.

Currently we have already found drainage failures in #18 where there was no positive fall for water to escape out of the bunker and into the outfall to exit.

Each bunker will be evaluated to redesign the bunker faces to allow more show of the bunker from the fairway, lessen the slope of the bunker faces to reduce water and sand wash outs and contour the bunker edges to provide a more constant smooth edge versus some of the existing jagged, “snake shaped” edges.

The golf course maintenance staff will also begin renovating a few small bunkers in house over the next several weeks as materials and man power allows. Currently the back right green side bunker on #12 has been completed in house by our staff and is ready for new bunker sand once weather and conditions allow traffic to that area.
