Skunk Damage

Skunk Damage 9 Tee

To our surprise this is what we found first thing in the morning. The damaged is done by skunks at night looking for food. One major meal of their diets are white grubs. During this time of year grubs are beginnng to come close to the surface and feedon the roots of the bermuda grass plants. The damage will heal over. Since this time we have checked other areas of the golf course for grubs and spot treated areas with insecticides to eliminate the grubs and reduce the chances for further damage by skunks.

I am the superintendent of a small course in N. Alabama fighting the same problem, with the exception being the skunks are destroying my greens (tifeagle). I have sprayed for grubs with no success. Could someone on your staff email me with information relative to what insecticide you used or other remedies you found successful? Thank you in advance for any insight you can provide.

The best option would be to apply a preventative measure like Merit in early summer, but currently we are applying carbaryl (Seven) to control the grubs.
